Dear participants,

This document is handed out only to individuals who are embarking on the 168-Hour Tahan Adventure with Raleigh International Kuala Lumpur. This document is your application and is your first step to a chance of the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia.

Please fill in this form and submit to Xin Tong at secretary1@raleighinternational.org.my by December 31, 2007. This document once completely filled and submitted will be your request to be accepted on the 168-Hour Tahan Adventure. Please note that incomplete applications (incomplete fields, lacking a referral or photo) will not be considered.

Overview
The team will conduct a 168-hour trek to the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia across arduous and physically challenging terrain, which will need them to be fully self sufficient. The team will carry all rations and equipment with them for the duration of the trek. This will require very careful planning to ensure the team does not miscalculate. The team will camp wild near the trail, ensuring they have a minimal impact on the local surroundings which will include leaving nothing behind. Where necessary the team will assist local guides and rangers to upgrade the trail through the dense vegetation since the jungle very quickly grows back across trails. The team will obviously have the opportunity to learn about the pristine rainforest environment as they progress.

To qualify for this expedition, you have to be physically and mentally fit, converse basic English and able to attend at least 2 training trip and 5 jogging sessions as planned in the training schedule. This is crucial for your own personal fitness and safety.

RM480 for non-members

Tahan Sampai Tahun Depan

Folks!

The highest peak in Peninsula Malaysia, a summit of 2187m, one of the world's oldest virgin jungle that existed for more than 130 million years, the world's largest orchid, carnivorous pitcher plants, elephants, tigers, Sumatran rhino and yesh yesh yesh, it's Gunung Tahan!

Yesh, let's Tahan Sampai Tahun Depan. Lock your calendar in March 2008 for this event. Why this expedition is so special other than Gunung Tahan is the highest peak in Peninsula Malaysia?

Ever wonder to share honey from bee hive with the orang asli? To catch a fish as huge as humans? Sitting by the campfire having the tribesmen to dance around you? And build a raft to cross the river?
